Same british type addresses. The link is Shala N. Hart in Columbia, SC. That was the person identified by ritchey in later emails to send the money back to via western union.

I spotted the scam when I got a hit 10 minutes after posting my rental on craigslist. I played along just for fun, even got the $5500 check that was sent via UPS next day air. That cost the scamer $23 ROFLMAO.

The check is on a bogus Bank of America account out of Irvine Ca..1-PMART Network USA LTD. I even called Bank of America and they told me they were already aware of the scam.

It was fun.

We received an email response to an apartment for rent that we listed on Craigslist and within 2 days of posting the apartment we had a response from James Cannon who works for AXA in the UK and would be relocating to the US.
He provided us with his “current” landlord’s name which we contacted for a reference and the landlord gave an awesome reference. I asked him for verification of his employment. He also was having an “Interior Decorator” who would be handling his furnishings etc.
The first red flag was that he would forward us a check and we would in turn forward the remainder to the Interior Decorator.
I am so glad that I googled his name and found this website.
Someone needs to stop him before he rips off more unsusupecting, trusting people!
